Try it some time. Feels good.
Chocolate ScDoOsh Cake AKA Chocolate Ganache Cake February 17, 2010
All from scratch people. I was skeptical because it took soooo much longer than using a mix but the moment I licked the batter from the rubber thingy I knew it would be worth it. The batter was so silky smooth and tasty. Now I have to distribute this thing to anyone who will eat it besides me. You know, as far as accomplishments are concerned, for example, my sister who will be running a marathon soon – eating this cake is a lot like running a marathon cause you can’t walk for a few days afterwards.
A few more detells about the cake, for the rum syrup I used actual rum cause I like that nasty alcoholy expensive pastry taste – like those expensive pastries you get from the bakery in salt lake at 100S and 300E? Somewhere around there. But I couldn’t really taste it so maybe I’ll add more next time. Also, I like the fluffy chocolate ganache stuff between the cake layers so I made plenty of it. I also used mostly milk chocolate but it’s still a little bit on the bitter side. Still good though. And still life-altering.
Clean burning waste oil heater February 12, 2010
Who would have thought you could take dirty nasty used motor oil and burn it without having it look like a burning tire? This thing burns totally clean (as far as your eyes are concerned) And creates just as much heat as my last, dirtier burning heater. I credit a guy named Spike in Australia for coming up with the design this heater was based on. He was nice enough to respond to my questions on youtube. The way it burns clean is, the oil gets really hot and vaporizes and partially burns in the primary burner (the pan I got at DI for 5 bucks) then those fumes get more air and burn completely in the secondary burner (that cylinder thing with the holes in it – used to be part of a diesel engine) All the heavy crap just falls back down into that pan and when it’s had time to cool off, you just empty that crap into the trash and it doesn’t end up in the air. Beautiful.
Crawl Fest February 4, 2010
And by “crawl” I mean rock crawl. And by rock crawl I mean when a bunch of off-road enthusiasts get together and use their “rigs” (modified off-road vehicles) to crawl over challenging obstacles, most of which are huge rocks. So, it’s pretty fun to watch. What makes it fun is watching people destroy their rigs as they attempt to crawl up some very challenging terrain. I used to do this with my buggy but I got so sick of working on it so when I finally destroyed it to the point it wasn’t worth fixing again I kinda lost the steam to build another one and bought a dirtbike instead so I could just grab it and go!
Anyway, here’s a couple of videos from the trip. I had a blast down there. And I’m sure glad I brang my motorcycle cause that many jeeps on one trail means it takes for-freakin-ever to get anywhere. So I literally rode circles around them all day which was fun.
